Domain Setup Tutorial
The Domain app is the foundation of your online presence on Solodoer. It allows you to configure your custom domain name and professional email address, making your business website accessible to customers and enabling professional communication.
Important: Setting up your domain is mandatory and required to use Solodoer effectively. This should be the first app you configure when setting up your business.
What You'll Learn
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to:
- Understand what a domain and email address are and why they're important
- Purchase a domain name and email address (if you don't have one)
- Add your domain and email address to Solodoer
- Verify your email address with OTP
- Configure DNS records to connect your domain
- Verify DNS records to make your website accessible
- Delete your domain if needed
Understanding Domain and Email Address
What is a Domain?
A domain (or domain name) is your website's address on the internet. It's what people type into their browser to visit your site.
Examples:
www.yourcompany.comwww.yourname.comwww.yourbusiness.in
A domain consists of three parts:
- Subdomain - Usually "www" (www)
- Domain Name - Your business/brand name (yourcompany)
- Root Domain - The extension (com, in, org, net, etc.)
What is a Professional Email Address?
A professional email address uses your domain name instead of free email services like Gmail or Yahoo. This makes your business appear more credible and trustworthy.
Examples:
contact@yourcompany.cominfo@yourcompany.comsupport@yourcompany.com
Why Are Domain and Professional Email Address Important?
- Professional Image - Shows customers you're serious about your business
- Brand Recognition - Reinforces your brand every time someone visits your site or receives an email
- Trust and Credibility - Customers trust businesses with their own domain and email
- Website Accessibility - Without a configured domain, your website won't be accessible to visitors
- Email Verification - Required for Solodoer to send emails on your behalf (contact forms, notifications, etc.)
Before You Begin
To complete this tutorial, you'll need:
- A purchased domain name (e.g., yourcompany.com)
- A purchased professional email address (e.g., contact@yourcompany.com)
- Access to your domain's DNS settings (provided by your domain registrar)
- Access to your email inbox to receive verification codes
If you don't have a domain or email address yet, don't worry - we'll show you where to purchase them in the next section.

- After filling in all fields, review your information
- Check the preview of your full domain and email address
- Click the "Save & Submit Domain" button at the top of the page
- If successful, an OTP verification dialog will open automatically
Step 4: Verify Your Email Address
After submitting your domain, you must verify that you own the email address.
Verification Process
- OTP Dialog Opens Automatically - After successful domain submission, the OTP verification dialog opens
- Check Your Email Inbox - An OTP (One-Time Password) code has been sent to your email address (e.g., contact@mycompany.com)
- Enter the OTP Code:
- Find the 6-digit code in your email
- Enter it in the OTP dialog
- The code is valid for 10 minutes

- Success! - If the code is correct, your email will be marked as verified
Didn't Receive the Email?
If you don't see the verification email:
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Wait a few minutes for the email to arrive
- Click "Resend OTP" in the dialog to request a new code

- Verify that the email address is active and accessible
What If I Close the Dialog?
If you accidentally close the OTP dialog before verifying:
- Don't worry - your domain has been saved
- You'll be redirected to the Domain page
- You'll see your domain info with "Email Address Status: Not Verified"
- Click the "Verify Now" button next to the status
- A new OTP will be sent and the dialog will open again
Important: Your email must be verified before Solodoer can send emails on your behalf (contact forms, appointment confirmations, etc.).
Step 5: Configure DNS Records
After verifying your email, you'll see your domain information on the Domain page. However, your website won't be accessible yet until you configure DNS records.
Understanding DNS Records
DNS (Domain Name System) records tell the internet where to find your website. Think of them as a phone book that connects your domain name to Solodoer's servers.
To make your Solodoer website accessible at your domain, you need to add specific DNS records to your domain's DNS settings.
View Your DNS Records
On the Domain page, you'll see:
Domain Info Card:
- Domain Address (e.g., www.mycompany.com)
- Email Address (e.g., contact@mycompany.com)
- DNS Record Status: Not Okay (shown in red with a warning icon)
- Email Address Status: Verified (shown in green with a checkmark)
DNS Records Card:
- Lists all the DNS records you need to add
- Each record shows:
- Record Name - The hostname or subdomain
- Record Type - The type of DNS record (A, CNAME, TXT, MX, etc.)
- Record Value - The value to enter in your DNS settings
- Copy button - Click to copy the record value to clipboard
Add DNS Records to Your Domain Provider
Now you need to add these DNS records to your domain provider's control panel. Here's how:
Step 1: Access Your DNS Settings
- Log in to your domain provider's website (GoDaddy, Namecheap, HostGator, etc.)
- Find your domain in the domain list
- Look for DNS Management, DNS Settings, or DNS Records section
- Open the DNS management page
Note: Each provider has a slightly different interface, but the process is similar. If you're having trouble finding DNS settings, check your provider's help documentation.
Step 2: Add Each DNS Record
For each record shown in the DNS Records card on Solodoer:
- Click "Add Record" or "Add New Record" in your DNS provider's panel
- Select the Record Type (A, CNAME, TXT, MX, etc.)
- Enter the Record Name/Host:
- Copy the value from the "Record Name" column in Solodoer
- Paste it into the Name/Host field
- Some providers use "@" to represent the root domain
- Enter the Record Value:
- Click the copy button next to the record value in Solodoer
- Paste it into the Value/Points To/Content field
- Set TTL (Time to Live):
- Use the default value (usually 3600 or Auto)
- Or set it to the lowest value available (300-600) for faster propagation
- Save the Record
- Repeat for all records listed in Solodoer
Common DNS Record Types
- CNAME Record - Creates an alias for your domain
- TXT Record - Stores text information (used for verification)
DNS Propagation Time
After adding DNS records, changes take time to propagate across the internet:
- Minimum: 5-10 minutes
- Average: 1-4 hours
- Maximum: 24-48 hours
Be patient! DNS changes aren't instant.
Step 6: Verify DNS Records
After adding DNS records to your domain provider, you need to verify that they're correctly configured in Solodoer.
Check DNS Record Status
- Go to the Domain page
- Look at the Domain Info Card
- Check the "DNS Record Status" field:
- Not Okay (red with warning icon) - DNS records are not yet configured correctly
- All Okay (green with checkmark) - DNS records are verified and your website is accessible
Verify DNS Records
If the status shows "Not Okay":
- Make sure you've added all DNS records to your domain provider
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes for DNS propagation
- Click the "Verify DNS" button in the DNS Records Card
- Solodoer will check if your DNS records are correctly configured
- The DNS Record Status will update automatically
If Verification Fails:
- Wait longer (DNS can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate)
- Double-check that you entered all records exactly as shown
- Verify that you didn't miss any records
- Make sure there are no typos in record names or values
- Check if your DNS provider requires specific formatting
- Try clicking "Verify DNS" again after waiting
If Verification Succeeds:
- DNS Record Status will change to "All Okay" (green)
- Your website is now accessible at your domain!
- Visitors can type your domain in their browser and see your Solodoer website
Understanding Domain Info Card
Once your domain is set up, the Domain Info Card displays important information:
Domain Address
- Shows your full domain URL (e.g., www.mycompany.com)
- This is the address visitors use to access your website
Email Address
- Shows your verified professional email (e.g., contact@mycompany.com)
- This email is used by Solodoer to send emails on your behalf
DNS Record Status
- All Okay (green) - Your domain is properly configured and website is accessible
- Not Okay (red) - DNS records need to be added or verified
Email Address Status
- Verified (green) - You've verified ownership of the email address
- Not Verified (red) - Email needs to be verified
- Click "Verify Now" to resend OTP and verify
Managing Your Domain
Update Email Verification
If your email address status shows "Not Verified":
- Go to the Domain page
- Find the Email Address Status field in the Domain Info Card
- Click the "Verify Now" button
- An OTP will be sent to your email address
- Enter the OTP code in the dialog
- Click "Verify OTP" to complete verification
Refresh DNS Verification
To manually check if your DNS records are properly configured:
- Go to the Domain page
- Scroll to the DNS Records Card
- Click the "Verify DNS" button in the card header
- Solodoer will recheck your DNS records
- The DNS Record Status will update based on the results
Use this when:
- You just added DNS records to your provider
- You're waiting for DNS propagation
- DNS status shows "Not Okay" but you believe records are correct
- You want to confirm everything is still working properly
Deleting Your Domain
Warning: Deleting your domain will make your website inaccessible and disable email functionality. This action cannot be undone.
If you need to delete your domain:
- Go to the Domain page
- Click the "Delete Domain" button at the top
- Read the warning in the Delete Dialog carefully
- Understand that:
- Your website will become inaccessible at your domain
- Email sending functionality will be disabled
- You'll need to add a new domain to use Solodoer again
- Click "Yes, I'm sure" to permanently delete the domain
After Deletion
- Your domain entry will be removed from Solodoer
- You'll see the empty state: "Add Your First Domain"
- Your website won't be accessible at the deleted domain
- You can add a new domain by clicking "Add Domain"
When to Delete:
- You're switching to a different domain name
- You made a mistake entering domain details
- You're migrating your business to a new brand
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Issue: Email OTP Not Received
Solutions:
- Check your email's spam/junk folder
- Wait a few minutes for email delivery
- Verify the email address exists and is accessible
- Click "Resend OTP" to request a new code
- Contact your email provider to ensure they're receiving emails from Solodoer
Issue: "Email Domain is already in use by another business"
Error Message: Email Domain '{your-domain.com}' is already in use by another business.
What This Means: The domain name you're trying to use (e.g., mycompany.com) has already been registered by another Solodoer business account. Each domain can only be used by one business on Solodoer.
Solutions:
- Verify you own this domain - Make sure you actually purchased and own this domain name
- Check if you have another business - You may have already added this domain to a different business account under your EliteAppMakers Account
- Domain registered by someone else - If someone else (like an admin, team member, or maintainer) has already registered this domain:
- If they added it by mistake, ask them to delete it from their business account
- If you can't reach them or they won't delete it, proceed to point 4 below to contact support
- Need Solodoer support to resolve this? - If you own the domain and need our team to help release it from another account:
- You must prove domain ownership to our support team
- Provide proof such as domain registrar account screenshots or DNS control panel access
- Email contact@eliteappmakers.com with your proof of ownership and explain the situation
- Our team will verify your ownership and help transfer the domain to your business account
- Quickest solution: Use a different domain - If you need to get started immediately:
- Purchase and use a different domain name for your business
- This avoids any conflicts and gets your business online faster
Issue: "Custom Domain is already in use by another business"
Error Message: Custom Domain '{www.your-domain.com}' is already in use by another business.
What This Means: The custom domain URL you're trying to use has already been registered by another Solodoer business. This error is similar to the "Email Domain" error - once a custom domain is taken by a business, the entire domain (including any subdomain) cannot be used by another business.
Solutions:
- Verify you own this domain - Make sure you actually purchased and own this domain name
- Check if you have another business - You may have already added this domain to a different business account under your EliteAppMakers Account
- Domain registered by someone else - If someone else (like an admin, team member, or maintainer) has already registered this custom domain:
- Purchase and use a completely different domain name for your business
- This avoids any conflicts and gets your business online faster
Important Note: Changing the subdomain (e.g., from www.mycompany.com to shop.mycompany.com) will NOT solve this issue. In Solodoer, each business can only be linked to ONE domain. If mycompany.com is already taken by another business, you must use a completely different domain (e.g., mycompanybiz.com or mycompanyservices.com).
Issue: "Some DNS Records are not verified"
Error Message: Some DNS Records are not verified. Please Recheck DNS Records and Try Again after few minutes
What This Means: You clicked "Verify DNS" but not all your DNS records have been properly configured or propagated yet. Solodoer checks three types of records:
- CNAME Record for your website domain
- TXT Record (DKIM) for email authentication
- CNAME Record (Return Path) for email delivery
Solutions:
-
Wait for DNS propagation - DNS changes can take time:
- Minimum: 5-10 minutes
- Average: 1-4 hours
- Maximum: 24-48 hours
-
Verify you added ALL three DNS records:
- Check the DNS Records card on the Domain page
- Make sure you added every record shown
- Don't miss any records
-
Double-check each record's values:
- Record Name must match exactly
- Record Value must match exactly
- Record Type must be correct (CNAME, TXT, etc.)
-
Check for typos:
- Copy and paste values instead of typing manually
- Use the copy button in Solodoer
-
Wait and retry:
- Wait at least 10-15 minutes after adding records
- Click "Verify DNS" button again
- If it still fails, wait longer and try again
-
Contact your DNS provider:
- Ask them to verify your DNS records are correctly entered
- Some providers have specific formatting requirements
- Ensure there are no conflicting records
How to Check Which Records Failed:
- Look at the DNS Records card
- Each record shows its verification status
- Focus on fixing the records marked as "Unverified"
Issue: Can't Access Domain DNS Settings
Solutions:
- Make sure you're logged in to your domain provider's website
- Look for sections labeled: DNS Management, DNS Settings, DNS Records, or Advanced DNS
- Check your domain provider's help documentation for accessing DNS settings
- Contact your domain provider's support team for assistance
- Ensure your domain purchase is complete and active
Issue: Wrong Domain or Email Entered
Solutions:
- Delete the current domain using the "Delete Domain" button
- Re-add the domain with correct information
- Verify the new email address with OTP
- Configure DNS records again
Issue: Website Still Not Accessible After DNS Verification
Solutions:
- Wait longer - full DNS propagation can take 24-48 hours
- Clear your browser cache and try accessing the site in an incognito/private window
- Try accessing from a different device or network
- Verify all DNS records are still correctly entered in your provider
- Contact Solodoer support if the issue persists
